- Description
- A liquid hydrogen trailer was delivering hydrogen at a customer site. The operation was occurring at the correct pressure, when one burst disc failed prematurely. No ignition occurred.
The transfer system was provided of two line, each with its own burst disc. Therefore, followed the protocol, the driver activated the diverter valve, which directed the hydrogen flow to the secondary burst disc line. However, the driver was unable to fully divert the flow due to the presence of a small piece of the ruptured burst disc. He contacted the depot management for direction. The depot management contacted a third party provider, who succeeded to get the diverter to engage fully to the secondary burst disc.
The trailer was taken to the third party provider for the necessary repairs, after having reduced the tank internal pressure.
The source does not tell if the LH2 transfer was completed successfully. - Event Initiating system
