Description
A leak occurred on a tube trailer while parked at a rest area of a highway. The trailer was very probably full.
Hearing a hissing noise, the driver concluded that hydrogen was leaking from of the trailer and alerted the authorities.

Emergency services and police intervened and evacuated the rest area, which remained closed for about eight hours. The truck was decoupled from the trailer. An expert of the hydrogen shipping company arrived on site, and employees of a nearby refinery assisted with hydrogen detecting equipment. Specially trained firemen wearing breathing apparatus attended the scene and performed a controlled release of the hydrogen.

A source mentioned by the online news reported that the leak was suspected to come likely form a crack on the supply line.

Pre-event occurrences
According to the news, the driver discovered the leak by hearing a hissing sound when parked at a rest station. If this is confirmed, it means that the trailer was leaking already before, when travelling, and that it is unknown for how long.
Description of the facility/unit/process/substances
DESCRIPTION OF THE TRAILER
The news do not provide information on the configuration and operative data of the tubes. Very probably this was a trailer with vertically aligned tubes of type IV (carbon fibre reinforced plastic wrapped composites).
The version affected inthis eventwas probably cosnsiting of 127 tubes (44,450l), at a working pressure 300bar.
The payload was 11,100 m³ of hydrogen (950 kg).
The video shows firemen searching for the leak inside the main body of hte trailer. From this, it could be deducced that th leak occurred at one of the piping connecting the individual tubes to the main line to the rear cabinet.
